GIBSON COUNTY ORDINANCE 1985-8-5
USE OF GIBSON COUNTY ROADS BY OWNERS OF "OFF-ROAD VEHICLES"

WHEREAS, there are several owners of "off-road vehicles" in Gibson County, Indiana.

WHEREAS, it is the desire of Gibson County, Indiana to adopt this enabling ordinance to allow the owners of "off-road vehicles" to use Gibson County roads under certain terms and conditions.

IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS:

1. That "off-road vehicles" as defined in IC 14-1-3-1, et. seq., may use Gibson County roads outside the corporate limits of any City or Town.

2. No person shall operate an "off-road vehicle" as defined in IC 14-1-3-1, et. seq., without a valid motor vehicle driver's license.

3. Any "off-road vehicle" operated pursuant to this Ordinance shall be provided with the following safety equipment: headlight, turn signal, brake light and orange pennant on minimum four foot staff.

4. No use otherwise prohibited by Indiana Law shall be permitted on Gibson County roads.

5. The Gibson County Highway Superintendent shall be permitted to post certain Gibson County roads for non-use of "off-road vehicles" by posting signs on said roads.

6. All operators of "off-road vehicles" under the purview and proscriptions of this Ordinance shall be subject to all other Gibson County Traffic Ordinances, in addition to the rules of the road as set forth in Indiana Traffic Regulations.

7. Anyone who violates this Ordinance by driving on a Gibson County road marked "Prohibited to off-road vehicular traffic" or who is otherwise in violation of other Gibson County ordinances for rules of the road, shall be fined in any amount not to exceed $500.
