Responsible for other duties as needed to assist in the operations of the Gibson County Community Corrections Program. Duties/Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. • Conducts intake and assessment of participants’ risk and needs. • Utilizes assessment results to develop an individual case plan for all participants and monitors participant progress. • Conveys/enforces departmental program rules to clients, monitoring and documenting daily client check-in attendance, advising clients of corrective actions regarding absence or tardiness. • Prepares and maintains various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and documents. • Administers an assessment of participants’ risk and needs • Utilizes assessment results to develop an individual case plan for participants and monitors progress of this plan. • Directs offenders to attend various programs, which may include; educational, community work, assessment and treatment programs. • Speak with potential and present employers of clients. • Assists in security and scheduling activities of house arrest and work release participants. • Conducts and assists in the filing of charges and Court proceedings of community corrections participants. • Composes notes to document direct contact with clients, family members, other relevant people, and other case activities, entering information into case management and updating individual files for each client as required. • Makes and/or responds to a variety of telephone calls concerning clients, including receiving complaints, providing and requesting information, arranging participation in treatment programs and related services, and locating clients and/or victims as necessary. • Administers and documents drug and alcohol tests according to departmental guidelines. • Immediately advises supervising Director of emergency situations and completes all required documentation as appropriate for each emergency. • Responsible for the bank deposit of any fees collected. • Photographs inmates upon sign up. • Testifies in legal proceedings/court as necessary. • Serves on-call and responds to emergencies on a 24-hour basis. • Performs related duties as assigned. • Responsible for maintaining annual individual training plan. Required Knowledge, skills, and abilities • Ability to communicate effectively with participants, coworkers, Director, consultants, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, other County and State personnel, and the general public verbally and in writing. • Knowledge and ability to execute evidence-based practices. • Ability to conduct IRAS assessments. • Ability to supervise and direct the work of others. • Ability to operate a variety of office machines and a computer using work processing and related software. • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and required to maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License. • Ability to use independent judgment in highly unstable and/or risky situations. • Ability to lift and carry potentially heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Necessary Training and Experience • Bachelor’s Degree required and preferred in human services (i.e. Education, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology. • Evidence-based practice training • IRAS assessment training • CPR and AED training • Submit to drug and/or alcohol testing. Qualified candidates will be required to pass a Psychological Evaluation and drug screen. In evaluating candidates for this position, Community Corrections may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. Our new building houses the Sheriff’s Office, 911 Dispatch Center, as well as the County Jail. We moved into the new facility at 119 E Brumfield Av in Princeton the middle of May 2025. The entrance is located at the corner of Brumfield Av and Prince St.

At 6 a.m. on May 28th, 2023, Officer Bello was working the jail board in our dispatch center when a 911 call came in from a Hispanic female. At the time neither of the Communications Officers could understand or speak Spanish. Officer Bello, who is a native of Brazil, speaks not only English but Portuguese and some Spanish. With this knowledge, he was able to translate on the fly for the dispatcher to get medical help to the caller.
