November 13, 2003- A semi/ pickup truck accident sent one man to Deaconess Hospital via Life Flight. Gibson County dispatch received a call around 1:10PM about an accident on US 41/ Lyles Station Rd. Preliminary reports from the scene indicate that Steven Westfall, of Oklahoma City, OK was traveling north bound on US 41, disregarded the traffic signal, then hitting an east bound pickup truck. The semi driver works for USA Truckline & was not carrying a load at the time of the accident. The pickup driver (name not being released at this time) was not wearing a seatbelt, thrown from the vehicle, and then life-flighted to Evansville for a head injury. The semi driver was not injured and was ticketed for disregarding an automatic signal. Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) was called to the scene to ensure that the traffic signal was working properly. This accident is still under investigation by the Gibson County Sheriff's Department.
