Re:
Jed Fisher Memorial Scholarship
Sheriff R. Allen Harmon announced today that Charles W. Neese, a senior
at Princeton Community High School and Dustin M. Miller, a senior at Gibson
Southern High School, have been selected as this year’s co/recipients of the
Jerry “Jed” Fisher Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship was established by members of the Gibson County
Sheriff’s Department to honor the memory of Gibson County Sheriff’s Deputy
Jed Fisher who died while on duty on October 3, 2001.
Charles W.
Neese is the son of Mrs. Nancy Neese, and the late Jerry Neese of Princeton.
He plans to attend Vincennes University and obtain a Law Enforcement
degree. Dustin
M. Miller is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Miller of Fort Branch.
He also plans to attend Vincennes University and obtain a degree in Law
Enforcement. The $500 cash award is presented annually to a Gibson County
graduating senior or seniors on behalf of the Gibson County Sheriff’s
Department, it’s employees, and friends and family of Deputy Jerry “Jed”
Fisher. Deputy
Fisher was an outstanding Deputy Sheriff whose dedication to his department and
the profession of law enforcement will best be honored by providing a law
enforcement officer of tomorrow with the opportunity to receive a college
education. This
education, which Deputy Fisher completed only five months prior to his death,
will better prepare the future officer to serve their department, and the
Citizens of Gibson County and to fulfill the mission that was only begun by
Deputy Jerry “Jed” Fisher.
