
Gibson County Sheriff George A. Ballard ('83-'90 & '95-2002), as authorized under Indiana Code 36-8-3-20, instituted the Gibson County Sheriff's Department Reserve Deputy Program on January 1, 1983.
The purpose of the program is to give aid and support to the Gibson County Sheriff's Department. The members of the Reserve Deputy Unit are approved and trained under the authority of the Sheriff.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING
Each Reserve Deputy is expected to attend the monthly/quarterly Reserve Deputy training meeting. A minimum of sixteen (16) hours of in-service training must also be met on an annual basis. The list of possible in-service training topics includes, but is not limited to:
