TRAFFIC TICKET FINES SCHEDULE
AND INFORMATION

Download printable version (Adobe Acrobat Reader required)

If you have been issued a traffic information and summons (ticket) in Gibson County, Indiana, you are obligated by law to resolve this matter in a timely fashion.  You are urged to carefully read and follow these instructions.

If you wish to plead not guilty and contest the ticket, you must appear in Court on the date and time listed on the bottom of the ticket for the scheduling of a formal trial date.  The date listed on the bottom of the ticket is not the trial date.  NOTE: The date on the ticket reads DAY, MONTH, YEAR.

If you wish to admit (plead guilty) or offer no contest (plead nolo contendere) without appearing in Court, you may do so in person or by mail if you have been charged with a traffic infraction.  However, if you have been charged with a misdemeanor or felony, such as OVWI, RECKLESS DRIVING, OR LEAVING THE SCENE, you are required to personally appear in court.  A guilty plea or a no contest plea to a traffic infraction will require payment of the fine and costs as set forth on the Fine Schedule below.  By submitting payment according to the schedule, you are admitting to the violation unless you specifically note that you are entering a no contest plea.  The Clerk's Office must be in receipt of your payment prior to the date listed on the ticket or you must appear in court as scheduled.  If the Clerk has not received payment from you and you do not appear on the date listed on the ticket, your driving privileges shall be suspended.  The Bureau of Motor Vehicles in the state which issued your license will be notified of the violation.

If you have questions regarding your ticket, call the Clerk's Office at (812) 386-6474 or the Gibson County Prosecutor's Office at (812) 385-5497.  However, please do not call about your ticket until the officer has had an opportunity to file the paperwork with the Court (normally 10-14 days from the date the ticket was issued).
